American Music Month Begins November 1
This year's celebration, "Music without Borders," features something for everyone, including
concerts and exhibits focusing on historical performances, musical technology, unique instruments,
Duke Ellington jazz, Jewish culture, and women's empowerment. Exhibits and events will demonstrate
"how artists and inventors creatively bridged across musical, technical, and cultural borders to
refine their crafts," says Scott Schwartz, founder of the event and the archivist of the
Sousa Archives and Center for American Music
(SACAM) at Illinois. On November 16 at 7:30 p.m., Andrea Zonn and her Nashville Band will fill the
Virginia Theatre with the sounds of bluegrass and old-time music.
