Finding Journals with the Rolodex and Flip Files

While all journal titles and volumes in numbered monographic series in the Mathematics Library collection may be found in the Library Online Catalog, the rolodex and flip file provide easier and more efficient access.

Rolodex

The Rolodex (Map A-9) is a rotary file of all journal and series titles, current and inactive, held in the Mathematics Library. The file is arranged by cataloged entry (title or issuing body). Each card includes call number, title, holdings, location of unbound issues (in the lower left corner), and the location of bound volumes (in the lower right corner).

Flip File

The flip file (Map A-10) lists many of the journals indexed in Mathematical Reviews from 1970 to date. This file, arranged alphabetically by Mathematical Reviews abbreviation, includes University of Illinois library call number and location. The Mathematics Library does not hold all the titles listed in the flip file. The flip file is not entirely current so please check location in the Online Catalog before going to another campus library to use materials.
