When requesting reserve materials, please ask for books by author or editor name
Books on reserve may be used in the Library for no longer than 2 hours. Some reserve books may be
charged out for overnight use 1 hour before the Library closes in the evening and are due 1 hour
after the Library is next scheduled to open.
The reserve collection includes books placed on course reserve each semester as well as those
materials on general reserve, and it is located behind the counter (Map A-5
). Only faculty members may browse
the reserve collection. A list of books on reserve is kept in the reserve binder, which resides on
the circulation desk. Titles are organized by course number.
The Mathematics Library attempts to keep texts for all 300 and 400 level
courses on reserve. Copies of texts for 100 and 200 level courses are not kept on reserve unless
the Mathematics Department makes a copy available to the Mathematics Library. At least 2 weeks
before the start of each new semester, faculty members receive a request for a list of course
reserves for the upcoming semester. Prompt attention to this request results in the books being on
reserve when instruction starts. Requests are filled in order of receipt.
Reserve Materials Available at Grainger Engineering Library
In order to improve patron access to mathematics reserve materials, an extra copy,
if it is available, of each course reserve book is also on reserve at Grainger
Engineering Library. Grainger is open 24 hours per day from 10:00 AM on Sunday to 10:00 PM on
Friday, and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturday.
Important Changes to Late Night
Copies of final examinations from previous semesters are available, on
request, at the circulation desk. They are filed by course number (Map A-6
) and are available for room use
only. They may be photocopied in the Mathematics Library (Map A-14
), provided the staples are not
removed. Copies of previous Mathematics Department's actuarial and comprehensive examinations are
available for room use only.
