Data Management Plans

Data sharing plans and data management plans are required by some funding agencies, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  University of Minnesota Libraries provide a compilation of data sharing and management guidelines from major funding agencies, including the the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Data Repositories

Data respositories are usually either institution- or discipline-specific.  University of Illinois' IDEALS is one repository option for UIUC faculty, staff and students needing to deposit their data.  Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship published Kirlew's "Life Science Data Repositories in the Publications of Scientists and Librarians," which highlights 21 life sciences data repositories.
