New Services Model plans have been proposed for the University of Illinois science libraries. Big changes have come to the Life Science Division Libraries! The expectation is that these changes will allow us to offer improved services to YOU.
The Biology Library has closed. Most of the books and journals have been moved either to the Funk Library or to the Oak Street Library Storage Facility. The Biology Librarian, Diane Schmidt, maintains an office in Burrill Hall. Most of our journals, and an increasing number of books, are available electronically so you can access them anywhere.
The Applied Health Sciences Library collection and services will merge into a new unit, the Social Sciences, Health and Education Library (SSHEL), which will be located on the first floor of the Main Library in the spaces currently occupied by the Business and Economics Library (BEL) and the Education and Social Sciences Library (ESSL). Implementation plans are underway; see the planning updates at the SSHEL Implementation Team website.

LSD serves the information needs of the College of Agricultural, Consumer, & Environmental Sciences, the College of Applied Health Sciences, the School of Integrative Biology, the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Medicine, the Prairie Research Institute, the Institute for Genomic Biology, the Department of Urban & Regional Planning, the Department of Landscape Architecture, and many others involved in life sciences activities across campus.
