Reaching Forward South Conference
for Library Civil Service Employees
September 20, 2002

The Library Staff Steering Committee would like to recognize the continuing support of the Library Administration and the Library Human Resources Office for UIUC civil service employees' attendance at this year's conference.  The conference is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2002, at the Northfield Inn in Springfield.

The RFS conference brings together staff from Illinois academic, public and special libraries who share their experiences with each other, find much in common, and confirm their own personal commitment to provide quality service to library users.  This year's conference will include sessions on Feng Shui, Confidentiality, Assistive Technology, Victims of Violence, Reframe .... Refocus, Library Safety, OCLC and Adult Learning.  The keynote address is titled "Try Laughter!"  Exhibits featuring continuing education opportunities and professional organization memberships complement the sessions.

The Library Human Resources Office is providing support for 12 attendees.  This day-long conference is considered work-related and will be recognized as a work day.

Any Civil Service Employee who is interested in attending the conference should submit their name in writing to LSSC, Box 26 Library, MC 522 by 5:00 pm, Wednesday, August 7.   Preference will be given to first time attendees.  Please indicate on your request if this would be your first RFS conference.  There will be a drawing of names submitted the morning of August 8, in the Human Resources Office.

The names of CSE's delegates will be announced on LIBNEWS and in LON.  LSSC would like to encourage all civil service employees to consider attending this conference.   Those who have participated in past years have found it to be both interesting and informative.
