HOW DO I KNOW WHEN AN E-RESOURCE IS UP, LINKED & RUNNING??

We often hear the question: how do I know when an electronic resource I am interested in is up and available?  There are 3 different ways we announce these additions:

1.      We contact the subject librarian when the e-resource is subject specific and/or subject funds have been used to pay for the resources;

2.      The NEW flag will appear on the Online Research Resources list (aka e-registry).

3.      Additions to the e-registry are listed on the Collections web page:

http://www.library.uiuc.edu/collections/files/tf_eregsitry.htm

                   This list is updated about every 2 weeks

As always, if you have any questions about an e-resource, if it is not up, or not working the way you expected it to work, please contact ERTECH@LIBRARY.UIUC.EDU.  Several people receive your message, in Acquisitions, Collections, and Systems, and we all work together to solve your questions.

You can help facilitate a faster response by putting the title of the e-resource in the subject line of your e-mail.  We have thousands of titles that we have worked on at one time or another, and it really helps us when you put something besides “PROBLEM WITH E-JOURNAL” in the subject line.  For example: “PROBLEM WITH ACCESS TO TITLE X” or “PROBLEM WITH E-JOURNAL TITLE X” is very helpful and will facilitate having the problem resolved more quickly.

Thank you!

The E-resources Team: Wendy Shelburne, Darlene Chirolas, Karen Fischer, Lisa Fielder, Lisa German, and Karen Schmidt
