News & Announcements from Units: The Collections and Development Offices co-sponsored a booth at Printers Row Book Fair, June 7 &8. It was a big hit with the alumni and Library Friends who live in the Chicago area. Although it will be a few days before the financial accounting is finalized, it appears that enough books and other items were sold to make the expenses plus a small profit. Several alumni who stopped by the booth after seeing it advertised in the Chicago Tribune's list of vendors said they were glad to see the Library being represented at the Fair. More that a few shared their memories of studying in a particular library or working in the stacks as a student employee.

Thanks to all of the Library employees who helped get ready for this event. It was a team effort and it appears to have successfully reminded our Chicago area alumni about the good times they spent in the Library.

The participants in the South African Library Leadership Project (SALLP) arrived at the Mortenson Center on June 6. They will be here until July 19 as part of a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in partnership with the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA). Robert Moropa, president of LIASA, will join them from July 3 through July 19. Please let us know if you would like to help host this group.
