News & Announcements from Units:

A new web site for the South Asian Collections at the Asian Library has been developed. It includes information and links to several topics in South Asian studies such as: online books, serials, newspapers, languages resources, country studies, UIUC dissertations and program in South Asia.

The Illinois Natural History Survey library has a new web page. It was designed by Jan Phillips, a library graduate student, for an independent studies course. Jan also works for the INHS library part-time. This project was particularly challenging since she had to incorporate the UIUC Library's logo with the design of the new INHS web page. Please take time to check out the new site.

The Undergraduate Library recently received four thousand dollars from the Atius-Sachem Mom's Day Sing 2003 Program. The funds will be used to purchase a new Reference Desk in the Undergraduate Library.

News & Announcements from Library Administration:

Paula Watson has returned from her recent sabbatical and will be taking up a new and important role for the Library as Director for Scholarly Communication and Special Projects. You'll be hearing more about her work as she settles back into her office.

I am very grateful for the strong contributions Paula made as Director of Electronic Information Services. She began and nurtured our electronic resources programs to the point at which they could be integrated into other routine work flow processes. Her knowledge of this field remains very high and I expect that we will be calling on her expertise as it's needed.
