We are pleased to announce the addition of four new videos to the LIS Virtual Library. One video introduces GSLIS students to LIS library services. The others explain how to choose a database to search for LIS articles, how (and why) to use a database's internal thesaurus, and how to set up alerts within databases and Google Scholar. The video topics were chosen based on survey input from 135 students.
GSLIS student Colin Williams scripted, directed and produced the new videos, based on information provided by LIS Librarian Sue Searing. Colin works as a Graduate Assistant in the Reference, Research and Government Information Services department under the supervision of Merinda Hensley. RRGIS GA Will Kent is featured in the role of BookMan, and many other GSLIS students have smaller roles. Thanks to everyone who contributed time and talent to this project!
We've listed the new LIS-focused videos along with other video resources on a new page within the LIS Virtual Library: http://www.library.uiuc.edu/lsx/learn/How_To_Videos.html
Please let us know if you find these videos useful. Email your comments to Sue Searing, firstname.lastname@example.org. Happy viewing!
