The University Archives is located on the basement level of the Main Library in Room 19, on your way toward the Undergrad Library through the tunnel.
The University of Illinois Archives includes a collection of university records, publications, photographs, personal papers, and unique objects focused on campus history, student life and culture.
Because documents are old, patrons are often asked to browse wearing white protective gloves, as the oils on our skin can damage the materials.
You might also be interested in the Student Life and Culture Archival Program. Founded in 1989, with monies from the Stewart S. Howe Foundation endowment, the Student Life and Culture Archival Program collects, preserves, and makes available materials documenting student involvement in fraternities, sororities, student life and culture in the United States and at the University of Illinois.
The archives were used to find historical pictures of the library and campus for the History of the Library film on this virtual tour!
