Library IT Workstation and Network Support
Overview
The IT WNS group works primarily in three areas:
- System Administration - installing and maintaining workstations for staff and public patron
usage
- Network Administration - providing network access
- User Support - providing user education and assistance with computer problems
System Administration
- Installing, replacing, and maintaining staff, public, and classroom workstations
- Software Installations and Updates
- Active Directory and Group Policy Management
- Responsible for maintaining a secured networked environment (antivirus, patching applications,
and preventing malware)
- Maintains and installs printers
Network Administration
- Secured network access for all desktop machines
- Responsible for maintaining a secure networked environment
- Primary contact for CITES LAN Maintenance and Network Design Office
- Wireless Network Access is maintained by CITES
User Support
- Provides support for work-related activities
- We collaborate with the IT Help Desk and the IT Infrastructure and Software Development units
to provide services, so we are often involved in resolving support questions.
