W. Jason Strutz was hired on May 16, 2008 as a Research Programmer. Jason comes to us from the CITES Classroom Technologies group where he worked since 2003, first as computer support technician and more recently as a programmer and database administrator. He earned a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Computer Engineering from UIUC, and has experience with SQL databases, Windows and Linux servers, and web applications programming.
We're thrilled to have Jason join our team and are now actively orienting him to the 50+ servers we manage and putting him to work on fixing and creating some web+database applications that the Library needs.
Jason's position is partly dedicated toward backfilling duties that Sharif Islam has currently, so that Sharif can be put on long-term assignment in the CAM / E-Resources unit. So effectively we've gained back about a half FTE but are still short ~1.5 FTE.
