Library IT maintains several internal listservs to facilitate communication among Library staff:
Additional listservs can be set up for individual Library groups as needed. Log a work request to have a new listserv created. Please include a name for your list, the reason you need the list, and the Net IDs of the faculty/staff/GAs who will be list members.
To be added to or removed from an existing listserv, or to ask a question about an existing
listserv, contact the list owner using this type of email address:
For example, if you want to subscribe to LIBTECHSERV-L, send an email to LIBTECHSERV-Lemail@example.com
In some cases, it may be preferable to set up an email alias for a group rather than creating a listserv.
Listservs are commonly used to facilitate discussion among the members of large groups. Each listserv has an owner who monitors the list and manages subscriptions to the list. The content of a Library listserv can be archived for one year.
A group email alias may be effective for a small group. All emails addressed to the alias are delivered to each of the individual email accounts associated with the alias. There is no owner for a group email alias. There is no archive.
