Connect to the Classic Voyager Catalog


Voyager is an integrated library management system managed by CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois) for 71 of its member libraries, including the University of Illinois Library. The CARLI implementation of Voyager includes the following components: Acquisitions/Serials, Cataloging, Circulation/Call Slip/Universal Borrowing, Media Booking, Classic Online Catalog. Each member library has a local online catalog. 

When is this service available

The Classic Voyager online catalog is available 24/7. Access to the Voyager staff modules via Voyager staff client software is available 24/7, except for a few minutes around 3:00 AM (Central Time) each day.

Priority level for this service

Maintaining 24/7 Voyager availability for Library users and Library staff is CARLI's top priority.

Problems with individual staff clients are dealt with during normal business hours by the Library IT Help Desk working in conjunction with CARLI support staff.

How to report a problem

During normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00)

Log a Work Request with the Library IT Help Desk or call the Help Desk at 4-4688.

At other times

If Voyager is down and it is not a planned outage that was announced on Libnews-L, call CARLI Support at 4-7593 to report the problem. You will be asked to leave a message. The CARLI staff member on call will be paged.

If Voyager is up but you have a problem using a Voyager staff client, Log a Work Request with the Library IT Help Desk. The problem will be addressed as soon as possible on the next business day.

Who can use this service

The Classic Voyager online catalog is available to users worldwide through most Unicode compliant web browsers. Library employees with Voyager accounts can work in the staff modules of the Voyager system.

What you must have to use this service

To use the online catalog, you must have a computer with an internet connection and a Unicode-compliant web browser that supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. Ex Libris (the Voyager vendor) supports these browsers: Internet Explorer 7.0+, Netscape 7.0+. Other browsers commonly used with the Voyager online catalog include: Firefox, Opera.

To work in the Voyager staff modules, you must have a Voyager account created by the Library IT Help Desk, and you must have Voyager staff client software installed on your staff computer.
