The ORR public interface is normally available 24/7.
Maintaining the ORR public interface is a critical priority for Library IT. We make every effort to resolve problems with this service as quickly as possible.
Problems with remote (off-campus) access to the ORR public interface are resolved as quickly as possible on the next business day.
Problems with individual databases and other specific information resources listed in the ORR Public Interface are dealt with during normal business hours by the Library's Electronic Resources Management Working Group.
If the ORR public interface is down or not responding to search requests , please log a ticket with the IT Help Desk or call the Help Desk at 244-4688. Incoming tickets and calls are reviewed and prioritized as they arrive between 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday. Tickets or calls coming in after hours are reviewed promptly on the next business day.
If it is outside normal business hours (8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday) and you believe there is a widespread outage, please call 244-4688 and leave a message with the Library IT Help Desk answering service (aka the AITS Service Desk). In an emergency situation the answering service will contact Library IT on-call support staff promptly.
If the ORR public interface is running but you cannot connect to specific individual information resources , email the Library's Electronic Resources Management Working Group to report the problem or use the feedback links provided within the ORR public interface.
The ORR is a catalog of online journals, newspapers, article indices, and many other digital publications used for scholarly research. Most of the publications available in the ORR are licensed by the University Library for use by members of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign community.
The ORR website is publicly accessible to users worldwide. Most of the licensed information resources listed in ORR are available only to members of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign community, but many other materials in the ORR are freely available to all.
University-licensed information resources are available from computers located on campus within designated campus IP address ranges. Members of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign community who connect to the ORR from off-campus locations can login to the licensed information resources using their University Net ID and password.
IT Infrastructure and Software Development hosts the ORR servers and manages the underlying database and software.
The Library's Content Access Management (CAM) unit and the Electronic Resources Management Working Group are responsible for managing ORR data records and troubleshooting user access problems with the information resources available via ORR.
