When is this service available

LibPrint service is available whenever the Library is open. Hours of service vary from one Library unit to another.

 

Priority level for this service

Maintaining LibPrint service in each unit where this service is offered is a critical priority for Library IT.

 

How to report a problem

To report problems with the LibPrint service , please log a ticket with the IT Help Desk or call the Help Desk at 244-4688. Incoming tickets and calls are reviewed and prioritized as they arrive between 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday. Tickets or calls coming in after hours are reviewed promptly on the next business day.

If it is outside normal business hours (8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday) and there is no functioning printer at an open LibPrint location, please contact Grainger Library at 333-3576. Grainger will notifty Library IT of the situation. (There will be no response when Grainger is closed.)

To request toner and other printer supplies (but not printer paper), please log a ticket with the IT Help Desk or call the Help Desk at 244-4688.

Printer paper is obtained from the Stores and Distribution section of Library Facilities.

 

Description

LibPrint is the Library's fee-based public printing system. The system, which was developed by Library IT, manages 34 networked printers available at locations throughout the University Library. There are also LibPrint stations in 8 departmental labs across campus.

 

Who can use this service

Any UIUC faculty/staff/student can use LibPrint. Printing fees are billed to each individual by the UI Accounts Receivable Office.

Members of the public can use LibPrint and pay cash for their prints at the Undergraduate Library service desk, or create a prepaid debit account to allow printing anywhwere in the system. Both members of the University community and members of the public can set up prepaid accounts.

Library units can set up Banner accounts and charge prints to a departmental FOAPL. Please fill out this form when you want to add a Library unit account to the LibPrint system.

What you must have to use this service

LibPrint service is available from the Library's public workstations. Laptop users can connect to Libprint via the campus wireless network or by plugging into a walkup jack. Laptops must have the LibPrint client installed.

The Library IT/Infrastructure and Software Development unit is working on a LibPrint client for Vista.  They hope to have it available at the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester. A mailing list, LibPrintVista@library.uiuc.edu, has been set up for those who want to be kept apprised of the latest developments and who would like to serve as beta testers.

 

Service managers

The LibPrint system is managed by the IT Infrastructure and Software Development. Printers are maintained by the IT Workstation and Network Support Group. Printer supplies (except paper) are provided by the IT Help Desk .

Direct user billing questions to the Library IT Help Desk via email or phone (217-244-4688).

Paper supplies are ordered by individual Library units from the Stores and Distribution section of Library Facilities.
