Web Services Toolbox

Web Services Toolbox (formerly known as WebTools ) - Web Services at UI Public Affairs provides a free toolbox to all University of Illinois members. It helps a web developer create an online service without substantial programming knowledge. Following are some of the most commonly used ones for library staff:

Form Builder - The Form Builder is a quick and easy way to build online Forms for gathering data. You choose the questions and types of answers. Forms may be university secured, group secured, or public, results can be viewed as they arrive, and results will be displayed in a spreadsheet or PDF format.

Event Calendars - Create Event or Resource Calendars. Calendars can apply the default campus look and feel or you can create a skin that matches your website. The Calendars, as well as individual events, can be displayed to private audiences or shared with the world.

Short URL - is a free service provided by Web Services in Public Affairs. Any faculty or staff can create a Short URL based off of the "uiuc.edu" domain.

LIFT text transcoder - generates a customizable "text-only" view of web pages instantly and provides a consistent university text view for visitors with disabilities, PDAs, cell phones, etc.
The Toolbox includes Surveys, Calendars, Forms, RSS Feeds, eNewsletters, Text Messaging, Group Management, Discussion Boards, Short URL's, Send to Friend, plus much more. For a complete list, please visit Web Services Toolbox web site.
