Oracle Calendar Migration

The Library's ad hoc Oracle Calendar Migration group has been working with CITES on plans to migrate the Library's Oracle calendar users to MS-Exchange calendar and email in early summer 2009.  The ad hoc group has learned, however, that CITES will continue to support Oracle calendar service "as is" for one more year, until the end of June 2010.  Instead of an early summer 2009 time frame, we are now expecting the Library migration to take place sometime in the first half of calendar year 2010.

The ad hoc group will continue to work with CITES over the coming months as they develop their Exchange migration plan for the campus, and we will look for the most advantageous time slot for the Library to convert to the Exchange services.

Library personnel who migrate from Oracle to the MS-Exchange calendar service will also be migrating to Exchange for email service.  If you have questions or comments about this change, please send them to the ad hoc group at  ExchangeServ@library.uiuc.edu.

As previously announced, CITES will discontinue Express email for all campus users in 2010 and offer Exchange email in its place as the campus-wide subsidized email service for all faculty and staff.   The Library ad hoc group's conversion plan will now include the migration of all Library employees to Exchange email--both those who currently use Oracle calendar and those who don't.
