A Library unit may request a loanable laptop for up to six months for a special project. The faculty/staff employee who oversees the project places the request, signs the Equipment Loan Agreement, and assumes liability for the equipment while it is being used for the project -- as required by Illinois state law and in accordance with "Section 12.1-Custodianship of Property" outlined in the UIUC Business and Financial Policies and Procedures manual. The faculty/staff employee who oversees the project also agrees to return the equipment in good working order by the agreed upon due date.
Loanable equipment borrowed for a special project is returned to the Library IT Help Desk for a checkup at one month intervals throughout the project. When the six months are up, the equipment is returned for good. After six months the laptop is wiped clean of all data and software applications and re-imaged with Library IT's standard suite of software for loanable laptops.
