Install LibX UIUC Toolbar in Firefox

The LibX Toolbar is a web browser toolbar designed to search the U of I Library catalog, online journals and databases. Currently it's available for Firefox and IE. To install the LIbX Toolbar in Firefox, go to the Library LibX Toolbar installation page, click the first link at the top of the page:

A warning message pops up:

Click "Allow". The downloading progress bar appears briefly, then another warning message pops up:

Click "Install Now". Another message pops up and asks you to restart the browser:

Click "Restart Now". Once Firefox restarts, a welcome message appears to confirm that you have successfully installed the toolbar:

The LibX Toolbar shows at the top portion of the browser:

Access articles through the proxy server with the LibX toolbar

The LibX toolbar has many helpful features including an option that allows off-campus users to quickly access the library electronic resources via proxy. When you try to access an library e-resource from an off-campus location:

Simply right click anywhere on the page and select "Reload the resource via EZProxy" from the popup menu:

Sign in with your NetID and Activie Directory (AD) password, once you are successfully authenticated, the page will reload and you are recognized as a user from the University of Illinois:
