UIUC LIBRARY GRANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Preparing a Proposal

1. Plan a timeline for developing your proposal, working backwards from the submission date. All proposals and agreements, including those originating in other units of the campus, must be submitted to the Associate University Librarian for Information and Technology (Beth Sandore) for approval, 18 working days before the grant is due to be submitted to the funding agency. Please don't wait until the last minute, and please don't submit your proposal through OSPRA without going through the Library.

2. The Library has a lot of great resources:

If you need help with digitizing a collection, The DSD (Digital Services and Development Unit) has equipment and personnel expertise in digitizing Library materials and can also advise on best practices and standards.  They can help with considerations of how the digitized material is hosted when it's eventually put online and they can offer software packages such as contentdm and xpat.

If your collection deals with the digital research and scholarship of faculty, staff, and students on the UIUC campus, contact IDEALS (Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship) to make a contribution.

If you have scholarly works to contribute to the Open Archives Initiative, please contact the Open Archives Initiative Metadata Harvesting Project.

If your proposal will deal with preservation issues, please contact Tom Teper, 4-8755.

Bev Curtis (4-7758), in the Library Business Office, is available to help you draft out your budget, including indirect costs.

Beth Sandore (3-2592) can help with questions about cost sharing.

Susan Harum(3-7555) can help you look for a funding opportunity, edit your proposal, or get you in touch with the right person for your questions.
