Scope and Contents:
In 1909, the President and Trustees of Kaskaskia Commons challenged a state law which they claimed deprived them of their land ownership rights. Clarence W. Alvord testified before the Illinois Supreme Court during the trial, and provided this fifteen-page chronological abstract of ownership, drawn from historical and legal documents. Natalia M. Belting donated this item to the Illinois Historical Survey.
