Scope and Contents: The Fortnightly Club of Urbana, Ill, was established in 1895 as a progressive forum for civic and cultural activities. Now one of the oldest organizations in Champaign County, the Fortnightly Club continues to play a significant role in the community. The Fortnightly Club records consist of the organization's annual yearbooks, and eleven minute books. The yearbooks, excerpts from minutes, and additional materials were compiled and transcribed by Kathryn G. Hansen in Ninety Years with the Fortnightly Club of Urbana, 1895-1985, 2 volumes (Urbana, 1986) and, with Carol Williams, a supplement, One Hundred Years with the Fortnightly Club, 1985-1995 (Urbana, 1996) [IHC: Q.367.977366 F778n].
The collection, initially donated to the Survey in 1986, has received periodic additions.
