Vincennes, Bank of. Papers, 1820-21 | Illinois History and Lincoln Collections

Scope and Contents: This collection contains transcripts of correspondence between W. H. Crawford, Sec. of the Treasury, and the officers of the Bank of Vincennes.  The letters illustrate the operation of Crawford's policy of designating state banks in the West as deposit agencies and granting them fixed government deposit balances.  The collection also contains a note from the Bank of Vincennes notifying a widow about the estate left by her husband.
