Scope and Contents: This collection contains three diaries of the Pierson family of Lima, Ohio. Charles Pierson compiled most of the entries, but Samuel and A. D. Pierson also contributed. The diaries describe farming procedures, weather reports, family matters, and reactions to the Civil War, especially the draft. There are also references to the family's request to Gov. David Tod for a permit to trade outside of Ohio; Charles Pierson's work on a farm near Rantoul, Ill.; and one of the Pierson's attendance at the 1860 Republican Convention.
