Scope and Contents: The Rev. Jesse B. Norviel was pastor of the United Brethren in Christ Church in Urbana, Ill., and served as Itinerant and Superintendent of the Lower Wabash Conference in 1915-16. This collection contains two notebooks that document Norviel's work as Conference Superintendent, including records of travel expenses and pastor's contracts and salaries, and lists of gifts received, "pastors to be," and Lay Delegates.
Dennis F. Walle bought these notebooks at an estate sale of Mrs. Ethel Lemay of Urbana, daughter of the Rev. Norviel, and donated them to the Illinois Historical Survey in 1973.
