This collection contains a statement regarding the sale of the estate of John N. Nelson.
The estate, consisting of one and a half acres of land in Liberty, Missouri, was sold by sheriff's auction to settle debts Nelson owed to William Enos Osman and Ralph Sellew. The statement describing the sale was written by Samuel Tillery, a justice of the peace in Liberty, on April 1, 1857.
This collection was acquired by the Illinois Historical Survey, predecessor of the Illinois History and Lincoln Collections, prior to 1967.
