Barbados is site of SUV Annual Conference, 26-29 June 2013
The West Indies Federal Archives Centre of The University of the West Indies (UWI) at Cave Hill Campus on Barbados will host the 2013 meeting of the International Council on Archives - Section on University and Research Institution Archives (SUV). The Conference will be held from June 26th to 29th 2013. The theme for the Conference is: The New Age Archivist: Managing Records and Archives in a Digital World. This Conference will provide a forum for archivists and other information professionals to investigate and discuss new trends in digitisation, electronic records and the Web.
The Call for Papers for the 2013 ICA/SUV Meeting is now closed. Please watch this site for announcement of the programme sessions in late March.

2011 SUV Conference held 12-16 July at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA
The officers and members of the of the ICA/SUV are looking forward to the strong professional programme and rich array of cultural activities that await all who travel to Edmonton, Alberta this summer for SUV's Annual Conference. Come and join us and find out all that ICA and SUV and the University of Alberta have to offer.
The theme for 2011 will be Best Foot Forward: Inreach and Outreach For Archivists. In times of economic uncertainty, awareness and promotion of the critical role archives play in institutional fundraising and visibility as well as the more traditional role of institutional accountability and transparency is of growing importance. Focusing on University and Research Centre Archives, this
conference will examine current inreach and outreach activities and programmes, assessing their strengths and areas for improvement and will suggest new directions for the international archival community.

2010 29 September - 3 October, Prague, Czech Republic
The 2010 ICA/SUV Conference Archival Traditions and Practice. Are Archivists Historians? was held 29 September - 3 October in Prague. At this 16th Annual Conference of the SUV, over 50 archivists from sixteen countries on four continents attended. They engaged in lively discussion triggered by nine panels analysing the backgrounds and professional practices of university and research archivists across national traditions. Under the general question of whether archivists should function as historians, the meeting explored matters of training, professional identity, employment credentials, user community expectations, and the "political" implications of how archivists should approach their role in creating and curating the historical record. The SUV Conference was organized and planned by the Institute for the History of Charles University and Archive of Charles University (Prague), Masaryk Institute and Archive of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Prague), Society for the History of Sciences and Technology (Prague), and the Archive of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Brno).hosted by Institute for the History of Charles University and Archive of Charles University and the Masaryk Institute and Archive of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In 2008, because of the 16th International Congress on Archives in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), 21-27 July 2008, the Section suspended its own annual conference, and encouraged member participation in the Congress.
