Paris is site of SUV Annual Conference, 8-10 July 2014
The University Paris Diderot-Paris 7, together with the Section for University Archives of the French association of archivists is honored and proud to host the 2014 Annual Conference of ICA/SUV. The Conference's theme focuses on research and scientific archives and how to collect, file, appraise and value research papers and scientific data. These records are vital to laboratories, researchers and institutions. Although some laboratories sometimes understand and apply good filing process, they still tend to be remote to archivists. The conference will explore: Is there room for a solid partnership between archivists and laboratories ? How can we deal with huge datasets coming from astronomical observations, physics and mathematic computing simulations, medical databases, etc. ? How can archivists take part in the cultural and research impact of their organisation ?
The Call for Papers for has just been issued and will remain open until 15 october 2013.
More information on the conference will be available on the conference's website at a later date.
Biography Project Launch--Submissions invited!
ICA-SUV is launching the 'Online International Archivist Biography Project' to facilitate communication, understanding, and learning among archivists across national boundaries. The project's website will offer short biographies of living or deceased individuals who substantially advanced the archival field in theoretical and practical ways and will include a short list of primary and/or secondary literature for each individual.
The Editorial Board of the 'Online International Archivist Biography' is calling for archivists and scholars across the globe to submit proposals for biography entries. Once accepted and once a biography has been posted to the website, the entry will credit the author. Editorial guidelines are available on the ICA/SUV website.
Please read the documents linked below for instructions.
By the end of summer 2013, ICA-SUV will have a simple online biography portal and at least ten biographies.
