McElmeel, Sharon L. The Latest and Greatest Read-Alouds. Englewood, Colorado: Libraries Unlimited, Inc., 1994. McElmeel has set out to help parents and teachers find quality books to read aloud that have been published since 1988. The entries include picture books and books for slightly older readers. For the older readers, notes suggest both read-aloud level and independent reading levels. In a literacy intensive conclusion, McElmeel lists 21 steps for building a classroom or family of readers. |
