BookHive is a web site designed for children ages birth through twelve, their parents, teachers or anyone interested in reading about children's books. Providing reader's advisory service, this site contains hundreds of recommended book reviews in a variety of reading levels and interest areas. Parents may find special "parental notes" attached to some reviews that provide additional information about the book. Users can search for books by author, title, reading level, interest area, number of pages, and even favorite illustrator.
- BookPALS Storyline Online
Enjoy children’s books read aloud by actors at BookPALS Storyline, an online series of streaming videos that celebrate classic picture books such as The Polar Express (Van Allsburg, 1985), Brave Irene (Steig, 1986), and many others. You are not able to see the texts on the screen when the stories are being read aloud. Requires the Flash Player plug-in installed on the computer.

This grant project of the Ramapo Catskill Library System categorizes, catalogs, and annotates free and safe Web Sites that kids (grades K-7) may find entertaining or enlightening. Allows keyword searching and browsing. Each site is assigned a reading level by grade.

This website has a wide range of information, news, stories, games, and activities about Dr. Seuss and his books. The website has a Dr. Seuss character guide, searchable book catalog, and biographical information Seussville also includes a parents page with Dr. Seuss books listed by age group, and an educators page with classroom and event resources . Seussville is maintaned by Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P.

Whyville is a virtual world for kids ages 8 to 15. After registering (which is free) kids can create an avatar, chat, and play online educational games. Whyville gives students a safe outlet to explore their creativity, meet friends, and develop intellectually. Sponsored by NASA, the Getty Trust, and the School Nutrition Organization, among others, this site offers educational and entertainment opportunities.

Yahoo! Kids is a browsable, searchable directory of Internet sites for kids aged 7-12. In addition to the directory, it also offers a number of fun features, including games, music, movies, jokes, sports, TV, news, science, and a Reference section of dictionaries and encyclopedias.
