Guide to the Classics of Children's Literature

Print Version [PDF]

The titles in this collection were originally published prior to 1932. From 1976 through 1978, Garland Publishing, Inc. of New York reproduced the facsimiles listed below under the series title "Classics of Children's Literature." Each title in the series contains a short preface, a bibliography of the author's other works for children, and selected references.

While the School (S-) Collection does contain many of the Garland editions, others can be found in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library (RBX) room 346 of the Main Library. Original printings are held in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library and Main Stacks as well. The Online Catalog should be consulted for both the Garland and original editions. An author, title, or author/title search will display the call number and location. All items on this list are in the S-Collection unless another location is indicated. Some titles have been published together in one volume (e.g., Holiday Romance, Petsetilla's Posy and King of the Golden River are all in one volume: S.R897k1976), therefore the call number will indicate only one of the titles included.
