The anthropology holdings of the UIUC Library support the present and anticipated teaching and
research programs in anthropology and its subdisciplines (archaeology, social anthropology,
physical anthropology, and anthropological linguistics). Recently published and heavily used
anthropology books and journals are housed in the Education and Social Science Library, along with
the majority of reference sources supporting anthropological research. The bulk of the estimated
100,000 volumes comprising the anthropology collection is located in the Bookstacks area of the
Main Library, and numerous resources important to anthropological research are located in other
campus libraries, including
Biology,
Art and Architecture,
Modern Languages,
Agriculture ,
Music and
Geology, to name a few.
