About the Anthropology Collection

The anthropology holdings of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library support the present and anticipated teaching and research programs in anthropology and its subdisciplines (archaeology, biological anthropology, museum studies, and sociocultural & linguistic anthropology). Recently published and heavily used anthropology books and journals are housed in the Education and Social Science Library, along with the majority of reference sources supporting anthropological research. The bulk of the estimated 100,000 volumes comprising the anthropology collection is located in the Bookstacks area of the Main Library, and numerous resources important to anthropological research are located in other campus libraries, including Biology, Architecture and Art, Literatures & Languages, ACES, Music and Performing Arts, and Geology, to name a few.
