I recommend the following strategy in each of these databases:  1) Using a keyword search, find a complete record on your topic; 2) look at the Descriptors or Subject Headings in that record; 3) begin a subject search using these terms.  If you cannot find what you need, ask a librarian for help. 

International Political Science Abstracts
To access this database, check the appropriate box and click on Open Selected Databases in the upper right corner.

Sociological Abstracts
Some of the exact subject headings in this database are "political violence" and "ethnic relations."

Wilson Social Science Abstracts
The default search is by keyword.  To conduct a search by subject, click on the magnifying glass icon at the head of the search page.

UN.DP/S30 (Last volume in Government Documents; previous volumes in Main Stacks)
The tables at the end of this UN title provide many statistics that are not available in national governmental sources.

This is an excellent source of economic and social data at the national level.

  This organization describes itself as "the first Internet-based human rights organization."

  Serves the information needs of scholars and human rights advocates.
• Human Rights Watch   
  Includes authoritative reports on a wide range of human rights issues.

Regional NGOs

• Coalition against Communalism  
  Brings together articles and reports on communalism.
