Passwords and ID numbers

To access the University of Illinois Library's resources, you will need two different identification numbers and passwords:

Logging into your library account to check out books:

You need your Library ID number, which is located on your i-card and begins with 20111-.

Accessing electronic journals:

You need your NetID and password.  Every student, faculty, and staff member at the University of Illinois has a NetID.  Your NetID is the ID you use for your official @illinois.edu email address.  It is also the ID for your Enterprise Account, and other University Account information.  For more information please visit the CITES website, Managing your Accounts and Passwords.

Using your ILLiad account for DocExpress and Interlibrary Loan:

You need your NetID and password.

Internet Access

The University of Illinois no longer provides dialup access to the Internet.  You will need to obtain an Internet connection through a 3rd party provider, such as your local cable or phone company.

To access library resources with a non-University of Illinois Internet connection, you must start your research through the Library Gateway.  This will assure that all of your connections to remote databases and online journals go through our proxy server in order to authenticate you are affiliated with the University of Illinois.  In order to access any library subscription resource, you will be prompted for your NetID and password.
