Do you have faculty that uses art images for teaching? Are you looking for ways to help them integrate digital images into their courses? CARLI can help!
CARLI governing and associate member libraries have access to the Saskia digital image archive
from Scholars Resource at:
http://collections.carli.illinois.edu/. This
collection contains 30,000 digital images of paintings, sculpture, and architecture, including
images from many important collections: the Prado, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Uffizi, and
the Louvre as well as archaeological sites in Greece, Italy, Turkey, and Egypt.
The images are displayed in both high resolution and thumbnail format, so whether teaching
staff needs to add images to a PowerPoint presentation or use a high-resolution version to show
details of a painting, they have exactly what they need! Additionally, the descriptive data
about the images includes references to their occurrences in 19 major art history texts. More
information about the Saskia collection is available on the
CARLI web site, or by contacting
support@carli.illinois.edu.
