The American Society of Landscape Architects was organized in 1899 as the first professional organization for landscape architects. Today, over 15,000 landscape architects in public, private and academic practice nationwide are members of the ASLA. Illinois has one of the largest chapters of ASLA in the nation with nearly 500 members.

The
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals offers a comprehensive listing

EBSCOhost
This collection of databases
contains many full-text articles on a wide variety of
subjects. It is less specific but broader in scope and can be a
good starting place for a topic that is wide-ranging or very
