This
is
a
two
part
welding
torch.
The
connections
are
made
with
nuts.
It
has
two
1"
diameter
adjusting
air
cocks
and a
3"
lever.
There
is
threading
on the
bottom.
A
brass
tag
hangs
off
to the
side
stating
,
'American
Welding
Company
Inc.
Chicago
Ill.'
Interpretation
Blacksmiths
began
to
educate
themselves
on
new
technologies
when
the
automobile
and
industrialization
began
to
threaten
their
trade.
Many
learned
how to
weld
because
it
not
only
strengthened
their
blacksmithing
skills
, but also
helped
them
expand
their
businesses
to
automobile
repair.
