| Title | School Work Corn Exhibit of McLean County |
| Coverage / Year | 1909 |
| Description | This boys corn exhibit of McLean County was shown at a Teacher's Institute on December 17, 1909, in Normal, Illinois. |
| Interpretation | By 1895, agriculture had been added to the courses of reading, writing, and arithmetic in schools. The earliest efforts in convincing farmers to adopt "scientific methods" were centered in the one-room school. Take-home demonstration projects were designed to out-produce dad's field. The projects included seed testing projects and other scientific tests, which eroded belief in traditional farming methods. |
