Stalk Rake


Title	Stalk Rake

Description	This 19th century stalk rake was used to remove stalks in the field from the previous year's corn.
Interpretation	The beginning of the corn planting season meant using a stalk rake to clear the fields of stalks from the previous year. Raking was laborious work. Brown stalks gathered from the fields were piled and burned.
