Title	Slide, Magic Lantern

Description	A rectangular glass slide with a handpainted scene which includes a cityscape, a steam engine in the background, people walking in the middle ground and a postman in the foreground.
Interpretation	Magic Lanterns were projectors which made a small, handpainted image project on a large screen. Shows were held in theatres; children had toy magic lanterns as well. This slide was probably meant to show three dimensions, the fore, middle and backgrounds giving the illusion of depth.
