| Interpretation | One of many images of the funeral processions throughout the country. Lincoln's funeral train took 20 days to get from Washington, DC to Springfield for his funeral and burial on May 4. The train basically reversed the route his inaugural train took in 1861. Along the way, many cities had services and processions so that as many people as possible could see his coffin and pay their respects. |
