| Title | Newspaper, New York Times from Sunday, August 1, 1926 |
| Coverage / Year | 1926 |
| Description | New York Times from Sunday, August 1, 1926. Page 5 of Special "Rotogravure Picture Section" containing a memorial to Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln. Contains eight photographs with brief captions, in composite format. Photos of Robert Lincoln's funeral; a formal photo of Robert; with other members of President Garfield's cabinet; Robert playing golf; and Robert's home, Hildene. L 22 1/2" x W 16 3/8". |
| Interpretation | Robert led a successful life by any accounts. He served as President of the Pullman Railroad Co., American Minister to Great Britain, and Secretary of Defense, aside from running a successful career as a lawyer. Robert was asked by the Republican Party to run for President several times, but refused, perhaps out of deference to his father, or because he wanted to be his "own" man, out of the shadow of his revered father. |
