| Interpretation | Photographed on the Antietam battlefield, Maryland. The cannon in this picture is a Napoleon gun from Cushing's battery. It fired a six-pound shot about two miles. This gun was used extensively in the field, sometimes as many as forty were lined up in a battery, wheel-hub to wheel-hub. |
