Description	The Old State House was a merchants exchange and a general meeting place. It was the symbol of royal authority in the colony.
Interpretation	Many important historical events occurred at the Old State House, built in 1713. The Boston Massacre took place outside the building in 1770. In 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read from the balcony.
