Interpretation	Pierre Mortier published this copy of a map originally made by Nicolas Sanson. Mortier was a successful book and map publisher in Amsterdam who recognized the superiority of French cartography at this time. He would have Sanson's maps, which were being published by Jaillot in Paris since 1681, re-engraved and then republished. Reference: Koeman, I. C. 1969.
