| Description | Great Seal of the State of Missouri: In a garter, buckled with the legend, 'United we stand divided we fall', a circular shield parted per pale, Dexter, parted per fess, upper part azure on it a crescent; lower part gules, on it a bear; Sinister: eagle and crest from the Great Seal of the United States. Supporters: on each side a bear. Crest: field of stars. Motto: Salus populi suprema lex esto (let the well-being of the people be the supreme law). Above the state seal, a wreath enclosing the initials of the University of Missouri. |
