his
players
across
the
country.
In this
wintry
picture
,
"Commy"
is
shown
standing
in the
snow
in
Chicago
just
before
the
White
Sox
palace-on-wheels
left
on the
spring
training
trip.
Standing
to the
right
of the
Old
Roman
is
James
J.
Callahan;
at the
left
is
'Big
Ed'
Walsh.
The
sign
on the
observation
car
advertises
the
'cargo'
and its
destination.
These
specials
were
renowned
not
only
for the
luxuriousness
of their
fittings
, but also for the
sumptuous
assortment
of
food
and
drink
provided
by the
Old
Roman.
The
dispatchers
ran
the
trains
on
special
schedules
which
permitted
the
travellers
to
'visit'
on the
way."
