LibGuides for Staff Training
Merinda Hensley did a demonstration of libguides. There was some discussion of cost to purchase, how it can be “published,” whether items can be put behind a proxy, how to store , and who would create. Some of the advantages of libguides are that they can include videos and tutorials and can be embedded in 1 spot.
Supervising GAs/GA feedback on May
12 supervisors attended. It focused on providing professional opportunities and on the exit interview. It was suggested that a form on the HR site would be useful, and samples of exit interview questions should be included.
A session on supervising GAs was suggested by Paula to Cindy, which would be mandatory, and discuss interactions with GAs, and harassment issues. There was some talk of having a welcome week in April for new GSLIS students which would include a tour of campus, housing options, and opportunities to interview for assistantships.
The Supervisory Training Institute was discussed at length with particular emphasis on changing cultures.
Lisa has suggested having a session on using Camtasia. I have contacted Courtney Green, who would like more information on what we would like. Merinda Hensley, Susan Avery, and Lori Mestre will be invited to give some feedback.
